Current locomotion solutions include either a type of treadmill where you lean forward, whilst being tethered or require you wearing nodes on your legs and marching on the spot.

XR Boots offer a unique solution. The hardware operates completely independently of any PC/game with the rearwards motion being triggered purely by the act of walking! This allows you to walk on the spot in any direction providing a natural way to move around in the VR world.

IMPORTANT - The XR Boots provide the locomotion, not the interface with the games. There are currently four options for you to use the XR Boots in VR which will need to be purchased separately. Here they are in the order I've found they work best.

1 - Natural Locomotion or 'nalo' (tested) is on Steam which can track the direction and speed of your feet movement very accurately providing a very realistic experience when used with the XR Boots. It requires lighthouse tracking, ideally two, and requires two trackers, one for each foot. There are numerous devices that can be used as trackers though. The walking direction is controlled by which direction your feet are facing which feels a lot more natural. There are several preset Steam VR games but custom settings can be used.

2 - KAT VR. loco S (tested) is three node system designed for walking on the spot but they also work when you walk naturally with the XR Boots. At least one lighthouse is required and walking direction is controlled by a waist worn sensor. They are compatible with Steam VR, Oculus, Meta and PlayStation support is in development.

3 - VRocker (tested)  is a Steam VR utility VRocker on Steam which takes a novel approach by interpreting head movements to generate locomotion in the game. However it also works the head movements generated when you walk naturally.  At least one lighthouse is required but it only allows for the controllers or headset to set the locomotion direction. However, with a utility called Decahub, you can use a Vive tracker to set body based directional tracking but two lighthouses would be required.

4 - WalkOVR  (not tested) is three node system designed for walking on the spot but they should also work when you walk naturally with the XR Boots. The WalkOVR ‘Trio’ or ‘Twins’ is required. The 'Trio' will give you body based direction locomotion. A list of supported games is available on their web site.
